ICMN board member Sharon Heron recently received a PhD from Queen's University, Belfast for her thesis entitled, "Mentoring in the Christian Community: Issues of Definition and Evaluation."  At the 2008 International Conference on Mentoring in Denver, Colorado, Sharon was also awarded the Linda Phillips-Jones Award for excellence in research in the area of Christian mentoring. The paper found that mentoring provides a more holistic and formational educational experience. Sharon’s PhD has generated much acclaim, and has led to her being invited to speak at conferences in Rome, Minneapolis, Denver and Oxford. Congratulations, Sharon, for this fine work!

From the Executive Director

women mentoring Welcome to the International Christian Mentoring Network.  We are Christians from around the globe, from many traditions, involved in all types of vocational settings, but with a common passion for investing in others through mentoring.  The word “mentoring” captures much of what we see modeled and taught in Scripture about how God matures us through human relationships.  Mentoring takes various forms and occurs in all types of settings.  Whatever the form and setting, the ICMN encourages and facilitates mentoring in the old Christian tradition of people coming together to listen to God and help each other grow.  Our web address (www.tri-mentoring.org) and the three hands in our logo suggest that for Christians mentoring involves and responds to God’s presence in the mentoring relationship.

We hope yomen with bibleu will find here something to motivate and enrich you as a mentor, as an equipper of mentors, or as a mentee.  Whatever your context and interest in mentoring, we invite you become a member of the ICMN if you resonate with our vision, mission, and faith commitment.
